Washing a Wig

It is important to properly wash your wig.  Here are some guidelines and a video to give you an idea of how it is done.  Always remember that not everyone is comfortable doing the work.  We also offer this service in our boutique.  

Washing Human Hair Wigs:

1. Brush out the hair;
2. Hold the wig by the front hair line and place it under the sink;
3. Put the water to luke warm and use professional shampoo lather it on the hair.  
NEVER scrub vigorously, just caress it downwards from the scalp.
4. Rinse with warm water and repeat until shampoo lathers.
5. Apply conditioner and leave it in for a few minutes. 
(if your wig is handmade do not put on the scalp. Rinse!
6. Gently towel dry hair and dry the interior of the wig before placing it on 
head or stand.
7. Style as desired

Washing Synthetic Wig:

1. Brush out the hair;
2. Place the wig in a basin with cold water mixed with wig shampoo, 
leave it for 5 minutes.  Repeat as needed.  If you desire you can use a conditioner
for wigs to soften the hair.
3. Gently towel dry hair place it on head or stand.
7. Once dry shake and style as usual
